MAPLE LEAF BAR

For the past half-century, the Maple Leaf Bar has built a reputation as not only an internationally-renowned venue hosting world-class musicians every night of the week but as a quintessential institution of New Orleans' cultural & musical milieu.
Founded in 1974 on Oak Street in the heart of Carrollton, this Uptown neighborhood club has become synonymous with the funky grooves that emanate from the banks of the Mississippi riverbend and filter through the ancient oaks as they move the feet, hips, and hearts of both locals and visitors to the Big Easy. James Booker himself tickled the ivories beneath these pressed-tin walls and ceilings for many of those early days, and we honor his legacy as his spirit hovers above our hallowed stage. From lifetime Grammy-winner George Porter Jr., who holds a regular Monday slot, to brass band Tuesdays, to the newly Grammy-nominated Mardi Gras Indian band The Rumble's Live at the Maple Leaf record, this place continues to bring New Orleans music to the world in a way that is unmatched elsewhere.
A temple for troubadours, haven for haunts, a funk foundation, and a pathway for intrepid young players hoping to forge their fortune through the live music life.
